Chimera



According to IOM 16862 dead and missing in the Mediterranean have been counted since 2014.

Two directions challenge me: the front of the canoe towards (and over) the land, almost inked, with the word « Africa », makes me think of the African Earth. The tradition. The back of the canoe seems to stagger on the water as suggested by the flag fluttering towards the horizon and its tattoo « Spirit » gives a feeling of free spirit. A bit modernity.

A land in relief

Thiaroye 44! The forgotten future of history, four feet underground, still hope to be paid a tribute worthy of the name. History has admitted that one day in December 1944, brave African soldiers were cowardly murdered by the colonial authority but some Senegalese seem to have lost their memory. Flock one day, flock always. After a first impression of disorder, one lets oneself be taken by the image and one finds a disposition in ranks (something military conditioned) of which certain files were broken. The multiple and identical effect of the skulls we add to the dominant white of the image, a shadow to give the latter a certain poetry of the earth.

Umbrella

First it is the jet black of the model that challenges us. And this black color is staged by the sparkling dentition. We do not know if it's a cry, a rage or just a massive laugh: finally the choice is left to the observer. The second thing we finally notice is the geometry of the image by the multiple geometric shapes here and there: the cone, triangle of the traditional hat, the interwoven lozenges woven on the hat, the semicircle of the wall, the alignment of squares at the edge of the ceiling, the black square at the top right of the image ... These shapes are rather basic, primary and give an old / authentic side for the purpose of this photo.

Alchemy

Going to meet the stranger aboard a regional express train is the first image that comes to mind. The Train in Senegal is a relic, like many others of the man, returned to be accepted, repaired but without success. So this pile of junk on which the kids dream of climbing a day like a Phoenix tries to be reborn from the ashes.
